due to the fact that i am one of the few experts on the whistling language of the island of la gomera (canary islands, africa), i was recently interviewed by bbc radio for their "word of mouth" programme.
you can listen to the 7-minute piece either at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/silbo_gomero or on my website https://silbo-gomero.com
not that this has any relation to jazz or to piano, but i do like to share my little successes with you folks here.
7,
the mp3 from your site is in-audible.
very cool 7! thanks for posting this.
knotty, my copy was crystal clear. maybe if you tried again, you'd get a better file.
the mp3 worked for me.

ignore my comment, it's fine now. must be me.
fascinating stuff
does it use absolute or relative pitch?
the contours created are relative. i could go into a big long discourse, but the wikipedia article has it pretty much covered.
thanks for checking it out.
and thanks to everyone else for listening too.
ps: frank, i tried to send you an email but it got kicked back. please send me a quick note with your current email address.
its interesting how a human ear can pick up those subtle distinctions in the sound of whistle
i remember once in camping in barcelona was a guy with a bird that was
making very similar sounds(wouldn`t surprise me if that was some sort of canary bird),that makes me conjure up a teory that canary birds may have picked up singing from those human whistlers, actually i believe that most of the canaries come from la gomera which i heard is the greenest island of them all
