Letter-box TV Effect
Does this ever happen to anyone? I think it probably does. Anyway it concerns watching a letter-box formated movie on TV, where there is a black section on the top & bottom. During dimly lit/DARK scenes well, with me I can see on the bottom the scene often filled-in. For example someone's long coat appears to continue down into this section, complete with folds & everything. I can "see" the rest of someone's arm, the swinging pocketbook (if one is there but cut-off), the wall's edge being extended, etc.

No, but at night I often fly around the world while sitting in the lotus position. This really helps out because it prevents the legs from hanging down and hitting the tops of trees or people's heads.

When I was young, I used to fly by flapping my arms and legs about like a swimmer, but it's very tiring and you can't fly nearly as quickly as if you simply will it to happen.

When flying at high speeds, certain tricks like loop-de-loops, etc are much much easier. These are difficult to impossible to execute when flying at very slow speeds or when hovering in basic levitation mode.

Does this ever happen to anyone?

Har har; (I knew you'd answer) also it helps to keeps your legs from being bitten by vicious dogs when flying at LOW altitudes, which as you know are not a rarity in the US. Have you ever participated in an air show?

Of course you could easily fly away to friendlier areas of the globe when a close shave frightens. But I have some advice, don't fly on the 31st of next month, it could be hazardous to your mouth in forward and you-know-where in reverse.

Anyway I'm serious about my post.

7- doing it that way would also make it so your legs didn't hang down into the dark section of the letterbox movie. Those directors could learn something about flying in the lotus position.

SolArt- yes, I've seen it happen.  Just the brain filling in the gaps as usual, I think.

Thank you Scot my friend! I think it could be connected to music & creativity also as us musicians have to think ahead to keep the idea flowing & consistent; & I would say if one is creative in one form of the arts, they are probably capable of being creative in all of them, such as drawing, writing, poetry etc. At any rate the fill-in phenomenon would probably be more fully realized by such a person.

Sorry to be unromantic, but your "extensions" into the black part of the screen are simply caused by "light bleed" in the cathode ray tube.

It's way to detailed for that. Plus it bleeds down, and not up; how come?

I figure this theory: because when our ancestors ran or walked in the dim it's more important to "see" (based on last seen objects & mentally placing/guessing them where they now should be) where you're going; so in the front down area, where your hairy legs & knuckles would be. Actually many of our fellow lifeforms should have this locomotion program. This was before the Lotus Position for flying was "discovered". Perhaps birds can fill in on top too, I'll have to ask an African Grey the next time I see one watching a letter-box movie on TV.

Anyone seen a UFO up fairly close? Seeing is believing.

Apparently not.
