hi guys!
i think would be cool to have some short low-res technique video to show how to play the technical exercise.
I.e. i can't really well understand the 'agility and strenght' one...that with the octaves with repeated notes on weak fingers.
the rachmaninoff excercise too...do our hands stay always in open positon or have we to swing slightly our hands to reach every bichord?
thanx

I didn't answer for two reasons:

1 - I don't know what you mean by open position

2 - The last discussion we had here concerning physical technique spawned a very heated, coounter productive debate.

My suggestion is to study with some reputable teachers (more than one) so you can make informed decisions about what helps you to play effortlessly.

thanx...
anyway it was a 'peaceful' request :)

by 'open position' i mean with the hand little spread ...
in the Rachmaninoff..
when you play G and C with the right hand with 3 and 5 fingers for example do the thumb stay open toward the lower C in preparation to play it..or go somwhat near the hand palm in a more relaxed position?

I don't intend to open a huge technique debate :)..
but there are some exercise posted here by Scot mostly...
it would be nice to have a video clip on how he (or other guys if they like) plays those excercise....

i love to have different opinions :)
is not a matter of fightin i think :)

thanx

Hi lalo

I think the problem for scot with video would be the amount of bandwith needed to provide these videos.

Midi files are very very small...video files are very very huge

But I'd bet my bottom dollar if Scot made a video Cd of some of his techniques there'd be many on here who'd pay $$$$ for a copy ;)

any chance Scot?

There are videos showing fingering (when the director allows it, which is often very frustrating)of live jazz concerts. Oscar Peterson at Montreaux. Others, just clips for archieve footage and so on. Art Tatum I've seen on the TV Arts programs.
