hii everyone
today i played a song whose prog is CM7-FM7...between the C to F, i played a melody line in octave which are g-g#-a,and i got a very nice old fashioned sound...can anybody explain how is it formed?is it augmented sound?can i got that kind of voice on a minor chord?

I would guess the 'a' is occurring during the Cm7 chord?

This sort of progression helps fill ina two bar dead spot
C- C-+5 C-6 C-7 (Cry Me A River)
Also major:
C C+5 C6 C7
Also going downwards:
CMaj7 C6 C+5 C5

Melodicly 5 #5 6 is the passing tone in the Bebop Major Scale.
Vince Gauraldi used it in his melodies too, it can sound cute.
Didn't Alley Cat or Baby Elephant Walk use it melodicly?
