| hii everyone today i played a song whose prog is CM7-FM7...between the C to F, i played a melody line in octave which are g-g#-a,and i got a very nice old fashioned sound...can anybody explain how is it formed?is it augmented sound?can i got that kind of voice on a minor chord? | |

| I would guess the 'a' is occurring during the Cm7 chord? | |

| This sort of progression helps fill ina two bar dead spot C- C-+5 C-6 C-7 (Cry Me A River) Also major: C C+5 C6 C7 Also going downwards: CMaj7 C6 C+5 C5 Melodicly 5 #5 6 is the passing tone in the Bebop Major Scale. Vince Gauraldi used it in his melodies too, it can sound cute. Didn't Alley Cat or Baby Elephant Walk use it melodicly? | |
