| I was watching the "Pink Panther" the other day for the first time in 20 years, and was captivated by the song the woman sings at the club, which I looked up on IMDB and found was called 'It had better be tonight'. It has quite a captivating melody and chords, with a Latin/Spanish feel. Doing solo piano, I couldn't quite get it to work with a latin feel, but found it translated to swing very well with a fast walking base. Has anyone performed this or heard it performed , with or without a singer? | |

| I'm not familiar with it. Did you make a lead sheet? I just watched the Pink Panther, but maybe I fast forwarded through that part... I was never a David Niven fan. Sellers, yes! There's another great peter sellers movie called The Party you might want to check out. There's a Jobim tune in the middle of it that is really nice. I'm trying to get it down, but it's one of those tunes that is so simple that it's hard. | |

| I actually played it on a big band album that was recorded on 9/11. Talk about not feeling like playing a gig...I just dusted it off and listened to it. I only heard the intro and turned it off. I don't think I'll listen to it again for another 10 years or so, if at all...not because of the tune or 9/11 - just because I played so badly!! The chart was cool though, and we didn't have a singer. It's a fun tune to play for sure...too bad for me it "wasn't that night" And "The Party" is a great movie too! Then again, just looking at Peter Sellers makes me laugh. (Does your dog bite?...) | |

| If you want to hear the beginning of the song, this is the link to the sample of the pink panther soundtrack on amazon: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0001P1BV6/qid=1113309877/sr=2-1/ref=pd_bbs_b_2_1/002-3286167-7499237 (How do you get this to appear as a link?) Maybe hearing a snippet of it you will recognize it. | |

| Here's a minute long clip...if you can get past the "bad" piano playing, you'll really enjoy it! ;-) http://www.jimmanley.net/music.html | |

| at least the intro isn't there! For those who care, I'm on all the "Splendor in the Brass" stuff and "Angels We Have Heard On High" and "Deck The Halls" on the Christmas thing | |
