Does anybody have a transcription of Dr johns solo Dorthy?

If you buy his third educational CD (called 'Sanctifying the Blues' I think) there is a 4 page transcription in the book that comes with it.  The rest of the CD and book has some pretty cool stuff also.  He has a very groovy funk vamp on a tune called "Qualified", which is also transcribed.

The CD is kind of a random meandering through stuff, but is full of lots of good ideas, especially if you are a Dr. John fan.

I have the 3 vol. CD set--no Dorthy!  You are right about the good stuff--I struggled to learn Texas Boogie & the 8/12 bar blues segments in 1st vol. up to speed.  I'm working on 2/4 Boogie w/Walking Bass & Cow Cow Boogie--taking only a  measure or phrase at a time, so it's really slow going.  If I'm able to get both nailed this year, it will be quite a rewarding milestone for a 60 yr self-taught guy who lives/breathes to play jazz/blues keyboard!  Ever seen Dr. John's hands??!!  Regards, Fred

No, haven't see his hands but didn't he take up piano because he couldn't play guitar after having a finger shot off?  Almost seems it should have been the other way around!

LOL!--I don't know the story--just amazed @ the picture of hid "fickle finger of fate" inserted in the note section of the DJCD Creole Moon!  Cheers!

Dr john lost his finger?  HOw long have you been playing for FREd?

I found the DJ lowdown @ northbay.com Entertainment--"Dr. John riffs on Jell-O" (Google).  I've played a little 3-4 chord guitar on/off for 40+ yrs; finally started messing w/KB & picked up a '96 Alesis QS8 this yr.  I'm getting out of playing what I'm willing to put in--hence, I'm having a blast because I'm doing what I've really wanted to do musically for a lot of years!

The Song "Dorothy" is the same as "Song for my Mother" on the volume 3 disk.

I've transcribed a bunch of Dr. John, but not "Dorothy."  Not to fear, it *is* transcribed, in the context of a teaching performance (as mentioned above), on the Homespun instructional tapes.

It's certainly on the 5-cassette audio version, and is probably transcribed in one of the companion books to the CD versions of the same set.  If you *cannot* find it on a published version, and I can verify that it's not included, I'd be willing to send a scanned copy of the  pages which I have from the original version.
