| I am currently upgrading my pc and need to buy a new sound card. Have any of you guys any advice to offer here please. I'm thinking of a Terratec DMX6fire 24/96 or the DMX6fireLT. (As a guide these cost, roughly, about £135 in the UK.) I figure I might as well get the best that I can afford but £ and would be glad of any guidance. | |

| Have you read reviews? Try these sites to find out what most people think are the best: http://www.digitalexperience.com/cardsrev.html Also, go to http://www.epinions.com and type in "sound card". You can also type in the sound card you are looking to buy and many reviews will come up (hopefully) from people who own it. Last but not least, go to the Cakewalk user forums where you cna find information on just about anything computer sound related (I'm sure cubase forums are just as good, but with a more difficult interface :) http://www.cakewalk.com/forum/search.asp Scot (did anyone get that at all? That was a good one!) | |

| Yep, I have read reviews, and the Terratec DMX6fire and it's little brother, the LT, got good reviews in PC World some time back. Thanks for the response. I visited your recommended sites (hehe, with no interface problems) and the same card got a few good reviews and no bad ones (one cautionary tale) from people who own it. Fact is, I'm lazy over IT stuff these days (too busy with piano practice and don't keep up-to-date with IT) and my son builds/ upgrades my PC. Since he's an avid 'online gamer', I get a fast PC but if I'm not careful I'll finish up with a monster video card and poor man's sound card. So I have to do my research. Great news about your great-looking dog. Tks again, Kai | |
