How much can you spend, exactly?

Hey Billy,

I think you'll find that you will be unable to get a shorter yet fully-weighted keyboard.  Obviously anybody who wants fully weighted keys is a piano player and is will also, nine times out of ten, want a piano sized keyboard as well.

Not the answer you wanted I know, but it may save you some time in the long run.....

Well, im lookin for in the range of $300 or less. It doesnt have to have any fancy sounds, or any sounds at all, just midi capabilities.

And, yes, i saw your post smg. Thank you! ive been experimenting with that progression a bit, and i may continue on with my composition. heh, i need to get out of the habit of not responding after i get a good reply...

Well, for $225 I just bought the Edirol PCR50 which is a GREAT controller. No sounds at all, but will do everything midi is capable of. I bought mine on ebay for $225. Only has 50 keys, but there is a 70 key version that is a little bit more.

Downside- the keys are not weighted.

Billy- click on the "ebay" banner in the left menu and do a search for "fatar" There is a semi-weighted 76 key fatar keyboard for $200 with only 1 bid. That's a decent keyboard.

Do  a search for Yamaha S80 also- there's one for $60, but it has five days to go before bidding is over so it might get over $300. But you never know- you can get AWESOME deals on music equiment on ebay.

Make sure you click on the link from this site, please :)

Thanks scot. ive heard about both the fatar and the edirol controllers. I already have 2 midi capable keyboards which are not weighted. And, it absolutely drives me crazy. i just accidently touch a key and it plays, and screws me all up. Ive also noticed that through the winter season when i dont go downstairs to play the real piano due to the cold, that my fingers are becomming weak. Its starting to warm up a bit so ive gone down to play more over the last week, and ive noticed that my hands are weaker. This is why i want weighted keys.

But, i havent ever played with semi-weighted keys. What exactly is that?

They are just a little bit lighter. The S80 weighted keyboard feels great, though.
