He was a great player.  Nice clip.
So he was short.  Probably used a booster chair.

I saw him in concert in our Jazz Festival here in Nice some years ago, and a metallic piece had to be placed on the piano, a sort of mechanism so he could use the pedals, I was just sitting on the wall of the arena, 5 meters behind him, and could easily see how he was carried by a man like a baby from backstage to the piano, and how exhausted he was after his monstruous performance.
I'm a very bad pianist, but each time I get discouraged to try to improve, these minutes come back to my mind.

He passed away in 1999 at the age of 36, I'm wondering how far he would have been (in a pianistic point of view) if he could have lived as long as Oscar, for instance !

I've always been a fan.
That man is a giant.

Yes, one of the greatest for me.

... By the way, on this video he plays "Little Piece in C for U". I love when he plays it with Stephane Grappelli on the album FLAMINGO ; Grappelli from whom PETRUCCIANI said : "When you have the opportunity to work closely with a musician like S.G., and are able to share his secrets and knowledge of music, then you know that jazz truly loves you". Among many albums from Petrucciani, I love this one in particular.

Nice clip. I saw him live twice, once at the Bach Dynamite and Dancing Society, and once at an Osteogenesis Imperfecta Foundation convention. A good friend of mine also has OI (also known as brittle bone disease). It's a little more than just being short, CynBad. And yes, he had pedal extensions, and played the full range of the piano.

i work-out as well as play keyboards i was told it was bad for me to lift weights and try to play the keys. as i of now i don't have the soft fagget hands like you guys do.

CynBad -- 09/04/2006, 11:20:19 -- #28985
What is especially funny is that you can't even spell "fagget".
If nothing else, alesis, you make us laugh.

I know that posts such as alesis's are frown upon at this site, but for some reason that last post struck me as very funny.  The mis-spelling adds a lot to it as well.
