| Hi I am going bebop crazy listening to Bud Powell - his playing sounds so sweet to me now! I think I could manage the head and impro a bit on Boucin With Bud - it sounds like Rhythm changes with lots of tri-tone substitution. Am I right or wrong? Bro' | |

| I've transcribed the head and solo to this one -- I don't believe it's really a Rhythm Changes tune at all. Maybe if you squint just right it could be conceived such, but not to my recollection (I don't remember all of the tune without looking at my chart). | |

| It is AABA form and the harmony implies a rhythm changes at times but if you listen to the bass, it's not rhythm changes. Maybe a very cracked out rhythm changes ("squint just right"). The structure makes me think that Bud was actually using rhythm changes as a basis, at first, and then ended up with a lot of substitution. If you arranged it, you could play rhythm changes over the entire song though. The B section sounds totally out though - beyond altered even. I guess you could do weird harmonies that imply rhythm changes under that melody: Em7b5 | A7sus | Am7b5 | D7#9 | D7alt | G7alt | Cm7 | F7alt | chord progression from songtrellis: http://www.songtrellis.com/picture$1745 | |
