LearnJazzPiano.com archives: USA a free nation ?????

Shortly off topic but I just wanted to let the americans know that I feel for you. Now your president has taken one more step in diminishing the fredom of choice for american people.
1 week ago he signed a law which makes online poker illegal for americans thus turning a big percentage of the population in to criminals. It makes you wonder what his reasons for this is. Probably pressure from the las vegas game industri who are loosing money to the online casinos.
Anyway I hope you will get rid of Bush soon.

Wow, and I thought it was just WAshington state that made online gambling a felony to appease the Tribal casinos.
But, you can't blame Bush for all this.  He doesn't make these laws all by himself.  We need to throw out all these fascist and socialist lawmakers.

i'm not sure this is the place .......

Scot -- 10/07/2006, 19:15:41 -- #30333
There is a politics room just a bit down in the menu to the left.

Mike -- 10/07/2006, 19:25:39 -- #30333
Way off topic.  Move to censor.
you are no doubt from the country that owns the biggest
on line casino and will lose the most american money?
Its not the place but as the thread is here.  I will say I agree
with you ... It probally is Bush team motivated and I support it 100
percent keep the American money in America. We are in a state of what is a type of World War right now we can not be financing your Army.

Answer to Mike:
NO I don't think my contry is in posseion of many online casinos. As for me I don't have any personal interest in americans playing poker. I just don't like the double moral coming from the US. On one hand US is saying that it is the most free nation in the world and uses fredom as an argument for going into wars etc.  On the other US is making laws that clearly demonstrates that the inhabitants are not that free after all.
Don't get me wrong I don't have anything against the american people I just think that Bush and his administration are telling you things that are not true and hope you will soon wake up and see the light. I mean if you really believe that US is the most free or only free country in the world something is not right.
The poker thing was just my way of making a point about this.

With all due respect, there is a politics room in the left menu that is devoted to discussions about the state of the world and everything in it.

Thanks for deleting.  Otherwise I felt a duty to respond.

nihonjin -- 10/08/2006, 12:50:25 -- #30333
Hi scott,
I see you just deleted the post instead of moving it to politics room.  I must salute you for another way of showing how freedom (freedom of speech in this case) can be controled and dictadet by the people in power.
What a shame

Mike -- 10/09/2006, 02:46:24 -- #30333
It is not his job or right to speak your words in another room. Only you can do this.  But he can delete your words when you put them in a place clearly intended for other topics.

Hmn.
That's a fine explanation if there were some consistency to it. I mean I post a fairly serious post that could be quite interesting to discuss and it get deleted almost imidiately. Whereas some very silly post like who is best pianist Hulk Hogan or Muhamed Ali went on an on an on without getting deleted. It even went further with more silly post like that without any actions. I agree my post is a little contraversial but remember that politics also have a big influenc on the lives of jazz pianists.

So go post it in politics and let's discuss it.

DoubleZ -- 10/09/2006, 10:03:58 -- #30333
You're posting on HIS forum, on HIS server, that he owns hosting on.  You're using his stuff, man, so don't bitch about what he wannts and doesn't want to have on here.  If you really care that much, go start your own site.

Scot -- 10/09/2006, 10:20:46 -- #30333
Nihonjin: Yes, politics do have a big influence on jazz musicians, which is why there is a room devoted to political discussions here.

If I could move messages from one forum to another, I would, however this system does not yet have the functionality to move posts from one forum to another.

The only thing I can do is request that the discussion be moved to the appropriate place.  When my request is blatantly ignored, the only recourse I have left is to censor.

As I said before, if you want to talk about politics, click on the politics link.
