| I need to record this somewhere so that if it happens I can point to it and say … it is a lie! I am worried that Bush and the republicans need a very large “October Surprise,” especially given the very bad news they have had leading up to the election so far. I note with concern that the USS Eisenhower has just been dispatched to the gulf region and is due to arrive around the 21st of October. Might it be attacked … perhaps even by something that somehow looks like Iran? Would our president then come on the television to tell us we were again under attack and that we must now expand the war on terror and “retaliate” against Iran? Would this re-energize the Bush faithful who are perhaps considering sitting on their hands for this election? Please let this be nothing but a paranoid fantasy!! If it happens, we may be in some very serious trouble here in the good ‘ole US of A. | |

| It is definitely in the realm of possibilty. | |

| It's been done before! | |

| A reason something like this might not happen is that people are a lot more aware of the nefarious deeds this administration has already done. People, and the republican congress, will scrutinize anything that seems suspicious very carefully. People don't trust the president like they did back in 2000, most people think he's a monkey in fact. | |

| Which is part of why I put this here. The more we anticipate this kind of crap, the better the chance of defusing it. Hope you're right! | |

| If any US ship were attacked in the Gulf under any circumstance it would certainly re energize me. | |

| Are you saying it would energize you to support the GOP and the war? That would be the plan. That was the plan with the Gulf of Tonkin (well, it was the Dems then). That's the one where we know for a fact we were lied to in order to get us further into a war nobody wanted. | |
