Despite his fabulous work with john coltrane and on some other stuff in the 60's (eg. Wayne Shorter's "The Soothsayer" - one of my favourite records of all time), I think his solo piano work is vastly overrated. I did have his solo in Warsaw (?) DVD but i threw it out. (i tried to give it away but no one would have it, it was terrible)

What was so bad about it?

it was like the clip above but even worse..
there's no subtlety or taste in his playing.
He just bangs at the keys, and not exactly melodically

I still love McCoy, even though he's not a virtuoso.
I've heard much better than that clip.
Have you ever heard the older, solo recording of "You Taught My Heart to Sing"?
That is gorgeous.
He is a big crashing player, and that's what he does.  He bangs in some places, but not in others.

I think he's great with his trio, though.

definition:
"one who excels in the technique of an art; especially : a highly skilled musical performer (as on piano)"

McCoy's busy bombastic style makes him not a virtuoso?  I am not a big fan of his solo playing either, but it's mistaken to claim McCoy is not a virtuoso. This thread is pointless, in my opinion.

IMO, he does not have good enough technique (kind of sloppy) and is not accurate enough to be termed a "virtuoso", but that's fine with me.
He's a great artist.  Being a great artist does not require being a virtuoso.
