LearnJazzPiano.com archives: riffs/licks that fit chord progressions

At the moment, I am really trying to make my playing from lead sheets as professional as possible, and I feel like I have a pretty good grasp of ways to voice the harmony/melody and solo over the chords etc.  My problem is that I dont really have any riffs licks that fit a particular chord progression that I can fall back on if I get into trouble or something.  For example, I dont know any famous riffs that fit a ii-V progression even, and I know if I could find a few interesting ones it could really spice up my playing.  Does anyone know any? Or any good resources for them?

N.B. I obviously know some general riffs/licks that can fit wherever you tranpose them, but none that fit specific progressions.

Thanks Again

Try "Elements of the Jazz Language for the Developing Improvisor," by Jerry Coker.  It'll fit the bill nicely.
