| Have a read up of the Per Danielson link in the Comping room or recent discussion in this thread. http://www.halgalper.com/13_arti/_9_comp.htm is a good (overview) read too on comping. As well as Hal Galper, Phil deGregg book (search in bok reviews, I think) and Dan Haerle web site might lead to some satisfaction. Comping has so many choices, I don't believe you can say what is 'typical'. | |

| The same voicing will not always sound great with every style of jazz. The fourthy voicings of McCoy Tyner would not work well in a traditional be-bop situation, for example. | |
