| There's this solo version by hancock of cantaloupe island... http://youtube.com/watch?v=c3IvQV5CzFA when playing the dmin chord he plays this great run upwards at 1 minute 19 into the song using two hands... what is he doing??? i can't seem to figure it out!!! | |

| He is playing triplet 16th notes, octaves RH, single note LH. Three 'hits' per note, alternating between RH and LH, as follows: C, D, Eb, F, Ab, Bb, F (F is played twice as 8th note). Hope this helps. | |

| Correction - he seems to be playing the first of each note with RH in 8ves, so pattern must be R,L,R for each note. Need relaxed wrists! | |

| I'm pretty sure he leads with his RH octave, followed by LH which plays the lower of the two notes, and the third note is meant to be an octave RH but he doesn't always hit it cleanly. I've just been fiddling with it at the piano and if you play your last suggestion it doesn't have the weight on the beginning of the beat, which is where it would be natural to place the octave note. | |
