does anyone know where to find the left hand pattern of watermelon man? some piece of sheet music somewhere?

Isn't there a transcription in one of the Hal Leonard "Artist" series devoted to Hancock (maybe there's just one).  It could be "Canteloupe Island," though -- I don't have the book.  There are lots of sites which have the contents, though.

IIRC it's just a little blues figure hitting the low tone, the five, the minor seventh, and the octave, but I never really transcribed exactly what he's playing.

Unless of course you're thinking about the "funk" version of that one -- I know I have a transcription of that one somewhere, but I can't remember if it's one I did myself or found in some obscure book.

By "contents" I mean the table of contents for the various Leonard books, not necessarily the actual groove.  I remember seeing a transcription site which has supposedly the actual notes, but I also remember thinking it was wrong and kind of bizarre -- I'd buy the book if you can find it, or invest the cash in a good piece of software like "Transcribe!" instead.  You'll get it.  Nice clean recording, if I recall correctly.
