| Hey ho :-) Question I have is following: Let us assume that I am able to play every chord of every key. Now how do I comp a band? I mean the rhytmical as well as the harmonic aspect. I've seen some pianists who don't play the real C-7 chord even if it stands there - they add some notes, manipulate the left hand etc. And it sounds great, so what do they do? Basic question: how to comp? thanks! | |

| Along with checking out 7's article,a couple of other good sites for this are Larry Simons and Hal Galper(both in links)..as a reading musician, checking out transcriptions will show you what players actually are doing...post specific ex.of the voicings you use(i.e.like this-LH E Bb D/RH G C F)and we'll get into it with you, send you to places online that have the info you want.... | |
