Hey ho :-)
Question I have is following:
Let us assume that I am able to play every chord of every key. Now how do I comp a band? I mean the rhytmical as well as the harmonic aspect. I've seen some pianists who don't play the real C-7 chord even if it stands there - they add some notes, manipulate the left hand etc. And it sounds great, so what do they do?
Basic question: how to comp?

thanks!

Maybe this article on the "Dues and Don'ts" of accompaniment will be helpful.

Along with checking out 7's article,a couple of other good sites for this are Larry Simons and Hal Galper(both in links)..as a reading musician, checking out transcriptions will show you what players actually are doing...post specific ex.of the voicings you use(i.e.like this-LH E Bb D/RH G C F)and we'll get into it with you, send you to places online that have the info you want....
