| Does anyone know where I can get a lead sheet for Ahmad's Blues. I've been listening to Red's version (Workin' with Miles Davis Quintet) and would like to transcrib. But as a beginner (at that for sure) it would help to have the lead sheet. I've tried the fake book index with no luck. TIA | |

| Sorry, I don't recall seeing one ever published. Isn't that the one in Bb using the rootless voicings in the LH using the chords 1/2 step above frequently? If so, you could try using Ab-C-D-G in the LH, plus whatever melody in octaves in the RH (throw in a fifth or whatever Red was using if needed -- it should sound pretty close). If it's a different tune, then ignore the above! | |

| For the A section melody (the bluesy part), you'll probably just have to listen to it slowly to figure it out. I think the B and C section chords are voiced with the following shape: Ab-D-G-C-F-Bb (Bb13) In the B section it's Bb13 to B13 and in the C section it's Bb13 to Ab13 to Gb13 to F13 and walk chromatically up back to Bb. Off the top of my head, I don't know what the form is for the head and it's anyone's best guess as to the solo form. | |
