| http://www.npr.org/programs/pianojazz/previousguests/winter2007/jarrett.html For years Marian McPartland has been trying to line-up Keith Jarrett for a Piano Jazz session. Following his stellar performance at Carnegie Hall in 2005, Marian confronted the elusive performer and convinced him to put in an appearance on her show. It was recorded in Jarrett’s home studio. It’s her typical format – talk for a few minutes, play for a few minutes. Set List for Keith Jarrett on Piano Jazz: Improvisation (Jarrett) Blackberry Winter (McGlohon, Wilder) Free Piece (Jarrett, McPartland) Portrait of Keith Jarrett (McPartland) Country (Jarrett) Indian Summer (Herbert) WBFO Saturday Jan 13th at 8pm WICN Sunday Jan 14th at 4pm | |

| Marian is a national treasure with that show. And she is truly amazing, still playing club dates across the country in her 80's. She's very entertaining and funny, too. | |

| I see the John Medeski is on emusic now so I presume Concord will put this one out there too. Having the ones that are pressed would be a great collection! | |

| Thought some might be interested in the list (from emusic in this case) of the interviews that have been published. Oh, and of course the Bill Evans one which is published as a single cut. | Sure: There's many files you can access at this site. If you register, which is free, you can do a search. This is another recording of Jarrett. Its a review of his Carnegie Hall Concert. The file is a bit long. If you click on the progress bar and advance to about 10:30 which is the start of the review. http://odeo.com/audio/2128358/view | |

| I have a cd of his playing live, and he always makes these whining noises while he's playing. It's so annoying and loud that I can't concentrate on his playing. Anyone else feel this way? | |
| CynBad -- 02/03/2007, 13:22:11 -- #32280 | |
| LOL Yes, I feel the same way. I wish we could get some kind of digital filter to remove the Keith Jarrett nasally whining, because I really do like to hear his playing. | |
| Reharmonize_me -- 02/03/2007, 21:46:06 -- #32280 | |
| Had the same thought when listening to Glenn Gould on Bach's Goldberg variations. Can't get rid of the vocals. But after a while, I just started to appreciate the vocals for the 'human interest' value. | |
| JHMurray -- 02/03/2007, 22:03:47 -- #32280 | |
| Listening to a lot of Keith, you will soon get used to his vocalisms and hardly notice it. That's when you really notice the beauty of his music. Watching him on video however is another story. I can't help wondering, doesn't this guy have any idea how ridiculous he looks? Sure enjoyed the McPartland interview, though. I didn't think he came off as arrogant like some people have said. | |
