Did it just get started?  It couldn't find 4 out of 5 artists I gave it.

oli2 -- 02/20/2007, 11:29:48 -- #33185
No, it has been out for quite a while. See http://www.pandora.com/mgp.shtml.

I have not had problems with it not finding artists --- but I usually put in bebop era artists. Did you enter mostly recent or obscure names ?

CynBad -- 02/20/2007, 11:59:56 -- #33185
If it can't find an artist, apparently they take note of it and will probably add that artist.  It didn't know "Joanne Brackeen" but it knew others that I thought were not as important... go figure.
Also, I've seen where they couldn't play a particular artist at a given time due to contractual issues.

do they have whatever's on iTunes?

CynBad -- 02/21/2007, 10:07:34 -- #33185
knotty, it's a whole different concept.
check it out.

oh yeah, I stayed on it for 4 hours yesterday. It's absolutely awesome. I was wondering if the library was from iTunes. In other words, if a tune is not on itunes, then it won't be on pandora (and vice versa). Not really important, just wondering.

I did register a while ago but haven't listened recently.

A tip for those outside of the USA - they ask for a US postcode when registering; being in the UK I don't have one (!) but I just used one I found on the internet (Sweetwater's I think!!) and this was accepted no problem.

OK, in spite of initial skepticism I’m suddenly a fan.  Had it on much of the day yesterday and today.  I’ve already found artists that I didn’t know and have had to start a new list (saved for later is just getting too big!) on emusic to remember them by.  What fun!

I think that's the most fun thing about it.
Discovering music and artists you hadn't heard before!
