| If you haven't heard Bob Albanese I think you will enjoy his piano. A Native of Newark NJ where I grew up. Attended high school with his dad where we played in the School Dance Band. He has some tunes to listen to. Most of his stuff is original http://www.bobalbanese.com/ | |

| He definitely knows how to play, but that troubling pattern that I see in a lot of contemporary players is going strong with his playing. That is, there's a lot of music but not a lot of groove. I see a lot of players really trying to mess with time, move around the barlines, do things that challenge them I guess, but if I can't connect to the groove of a song (unless it's supposed to be a tone poem of some kind) it's hard for me to really get into it. | |

| I agree completely. It sounds closer to European concert music and tends to loose it's African influence. | |

| Sounds good to me. Just sounds like he was streching out. | |

| I found this thread looking for a totally different one but had to stop here as Bob happens to be my online via webcam teacher. Scot, did you take a look at his myspace? I wonder what you think of his "A Song a Robin Sings" as I really like that one. http://www.myspace.com/bobalbanese Yours, Jan | |
