Hi everybody!

I'm ready to work on the ''Rythm Changes'' in all twelves keys.

What are those those definite changes...for a beginner.

I don't want fancy reharmonization or chord substitutions...

Just the basic changes.

Thank you in advance.

-Bud

Check out the Ralph Patt Vanilla version for the 'stripped down to basics' changes in Bb.

Hi Bud, I have been working with Rhythm changes drills in a few keys recently, and only the most basic version I could find which is from Oleo in the Real Book, something like this:

| Bb  Gm7 | Cm7  F7   | Bb  Gm7 | Cm7  F7 |
| Fm7 Bb7 | Eb   Ebm6 | Bb  Gm7 | Cm7  F7 |

| Bb  Gm7 | Cm7  F7   | Bb  Gm7 | Cm7  F7 |
| Fm7 Bb7 | Eb   Ebm6 | Bb  Gm7 | Bb      |

| D7      | D7        | G7      | G7      |
| C7      | C7        | F7      | F7      |

| Bb  Gm7 | Cm7  F7   | Bb  Gm7 | Cm7  F7 |
| Fm7 Bb7 | Eb   Ebm6 | Bb  Gm7 | Bb      |

Not sure if its definitive but it at least gives a feel for the structure.

If there is a definitive version that someone could post I'd also be very interested in seeing it.

I vi ii V
Bridge: circle of fifths starting on the major 3rd of the key.
Add extensions.
Think numbers, not chords. Then you can play it in any key.

Since I learned this from Dexterity I put a ii in from of the D7 in the bridge.  I think you could do that with the whole thing couldn't you?

Right !! Putting a 2 ifo a 7 almost anywhere, works. I try it all the time Charlie. Also a tri- tone-- substitution.
