| Good morning everyone, Does anybody know where I could get my hands on the Mp3 or midi collection of the solos represented in the Omnibook please. I have not purchased the omnibook as yet but based on previous posts by Jazz + and others, it seems to be a great study aid along side forward motion. Thanks in advance, Niall | |

| It's very beneficial to your music and to the jazz community to go out and spend a few dollars on some old Charlie Parker/Gillespie bebop recordings and play along with them. | |

| Hello Group, A few years ago a friend of mine who works at a recording studio found every parker solo that is in the omnibook, isolated just the solos, cleaned up the sound and made them into mp3 files. I was able to work a deal with him and get them and started playing along with parkers solos by slowing them down with Amazing Slowdowner. Like Scot says above it Changed my playing overnight !!! It is like being on the bandstand with Parker, plus you can analyze his lines in the book. Those midi files you found I think are only the changes, but like Scot says you want the real thing to play along with in order to really feel the pulse on what is happening Best Regards Paul | |

| Sorry I forgot to add that it is also interesting to see how the transcriber decided to notate parkers solos because I would have done some very different, also some really can't be notated and you just have to feel and play along in order to really grasp the phrase. Also I find wrong notes in the Omnibook so that if I was playing the solos using only the book I would never know Paul | |

| I could never figure out why someone hasn't a published a recording of all the omni book transcriptions yet. I guess it has to do with copyright laws and the fact that Parker recorded with several different labels. It's really hard finding some of those tracks. I don't know how many times I bought a Charlie Parker CD thinking I was going to get a take that's in the Omni book, only to find it was a different take from the Omni book version. Yes Paul, it would be great if you could share your omnibook tracks!!!! | |

| I have them and would be willing to share them. They are not the whole song but have been edited to play exactly how they appear in the omnibook. I will have to think about the best way we could do this or would appreciate any ideas Paul | |

| Get ready for bad karma if you share stuff like that. Also, the omnibook contains one transcription per song, that means that there are many other recorded solos that were not. If some notes are wrong in the transcription melody, it may be that they were using a different recording than you're used to. Bird and Diz never wrote those tunes down, they just worked them out together. So it's likely that the tunes adjusted themselves as time went on. | |

| there is a recording of all the solos that go along with the omnibook. I do not where it can be obtained though. I know I have it somewhere in my house. Where I do not know that either... I did my work with that many moons ago. | |
