nihonjin -- 05/17/2007, 08:14:03 -- #35103
Hi,
I just been on tour playing at the Mai jazz festival in Stavanger.
I was told that the standard payment for one gig at a jazzclub according to the norwedish musician union is 12ookr. Can any of you norwedish people out there conform that ?
To me it sound a bit low.
Sincerly
Nihonjin

Did you have an agreement with Maijazz before you played? What band did you play with?

Hi Ole,
I played at a small club called arkived. The band was called Editors Choice.

Is there any norwedians here? who can answer?

I am norwegian. I could not find your band on the MaiJazz program. What was your agreement on the job? Standard pay on the main stages on festivals is between 2000 - 2500 kr. But on the smaller clubs and scenes in is between 1000 - 1500. What did your contract say?

Hi Ole,
Thanks for your answer. I am not sure we were in the official program as it was Stavanger kommune who paid for our gig. We were part of an exchange program between a danish festival www.jazzydays.dk and MaiJazz.
We were promissed to get a norwedish tariff as it is according to the norwedish musician union. The tariff in denmark is 1550kr which is about 1700 nkr that was why I was surprissed to find out we only got paid 1200kr.

Ole you say the pay is between 1000-1500kr but don't the norwedish musiacan union have a certan amount as I said the danish has 1550kr as minimum payment. Not to say people don't play for less, but at least that's the amount the union demands.
