| I recently got a copy of Lola, Vocaloid's synthesized vocalist. It's a midi-based programme that uses a phoneme dictionary to "sing" notes and words you input on a sequencer-style piano roll. Then by applying various articulations and tweaking various midi continuous controllers, you attempt to "humanize" it. Finally it can be exported as a wav file and imported into Sonar or Cubase or whatever as the vocal track. So far the results have been on the bizarre side of interesting, but I suspect increasing familiarity will improve the results - though I think it'll be a while before this technology puts the human singer out of the picture. Anyway, there's an mp3 track on my website to show what I've managed so far. I'd be interested to receive comments. http://www.sidthomas.net/Performances/whatsgoingon.htm sid | |
