There was a post that Scot responded to sometime last year.  It was some general question about keeping track of form or something, and Scot responded with this all encompassing post about learning a tune inside and out (and how to do it) before you can even start soloing over it.  I've been looking for it, and I had it bookmarked at one point, but I've since lost it.  Does anyone know which one I'm talking about, or can Scot re-post it or something similar?

Hmm, I can't recall the thread you're talking about, but I will put a note down to write about that again sometime. I'm making a bunch of articles that are on LJP but outside of the forum system (for search engine reasons). Hey, have you tried clicking on the "site search" link in the top menu?  It uses Google to search the LJP archives, so you could keep on trying search terms until you found what you were looking for.

I can now follow the form on a lead sheet, bar at a time, but it is also much better to commit it to memory.    Now I really should attack my mountain of other musical problems *sigh*
