| Thank you for this. Very helpful. Something I picked up on was the description of 'Locked fourths style'. Now I often use what can be called a 'diatonic fouth' pattern in my right hand. e.g. C - F - B. I will move this pattern about on the white keys, keeping my right hand fingers 'locked'. I will catch melody notes with the highest note or just ascend or descend randomly. Sounds good against C and diatonic modes and great against A7 in the left hand. Now, of course I want to take this into other keys as well but is this how fourth chords are used in practice by players like Bill? I realise that the pattern, when moved around on the white keys, covers perfect fourth and tri-tone intervals BUT I CAN'T 'GET' PERFECT FOURTH VOICINGS THAT MOVE IN A PARALLEL FASHION! Who plays these? Bill? Anyone? Help me bust through that wall, built up of parallel fourths!!!! Cheers Bro' (stuck in a world of diatonic fourths) | |
