| Hey. I just graduated from college with a BA in Music, with a concentration in Music History and specialization in 20th Century Popular music. (Whew) What can I do with this? Other than get a masters, which I plan to go back for next year. My junior thesis was a comparative analytical study of Monk and Ellington's piano styles. My senior thesis was a historical and musical study of Chuck Berry, Fats Domino, and Little Richard. Also, does anybody know of schools with good Jazz and/or Popular musicology programs? | |

| I got a BA in Music and now I'm teaching Spanish. The demands or teaching school band seem rather extreme. Some time I might give elementary general music a try. It seems like it could be fun. Other than teaching, I'm not sure what exactly you can do with your degree. If you like teaching you could most likely find a high school where you could teach music history, theory and possibly some other subjects of interest to you. If you want to do that, get your state certification -perhaps while your doing your maters. As far as grad schools, University of North Texas is strong in jazz and musicology (not sure about pop) Good luck! | |
