| I was wondering. Does anyone know how Paul McCartney got away with a seven bar tune (yesterday)? | |

| McCartney is a genious. Sometime i saw a TV interview with him and he answered the same question so: "I never studied music... i never counted measures..." You are mentioning one of most sold songs in history... and you are noticing the absence of a bar... That's the work of a genious. | |

| That's wierd - I've played that tune so many times and never even noticed the seven bar phrase. I guess it proves if you compose, play or improvise well anything can work. | |

| The progression works with 7 bars because it ends on the tonic chord (which would normally be held another bar)and starts on the same one, producing the aural impression of 8 harmonically/structurally, although the melody changes(even the beginning of the second verse could be interpreted melodically as bar 8)....here's a link to check out- | |

| In same TV interview mentioned upwards, Paul said that he heard this song in dreams while sleeping, and when he woke up recorded it in a tape, went to study and there John wrote lyrics. All geniouses had a great connection with subconscious. For more info about this stuff go to search engine (upwards at right corner) and write "subconscious in music" selecting "rooms". | |
