In case you didn't check the other thread about st. louis, I was wondering if you could give me some tips about the UMKC audition process. I tried to access the repertoire and couldn't get to it. Gracias.

Jules

Well, I just got back from the campus today.  They were having their "Jazz Weekend" and combos from my school took part in the festival.  I got to hear Bobby play with their guest Conrad Herwig.  Both those guys are awesome.

In response to your question, my audition isn't until February, so I don't know exactly what to expect.  I recommend going to www.umkc.edu and going to the admissions section.  They have a place where you can enter your address and request more information from the specific departments you are interested in.

I would recommend sending your specific questions to someone at the school.  Bobby Watson's second in command, Hal Melia, can answer your jazz questions (meliah@umkc.edu).  As  I am predominantly a sax player, I don't know what is expected from pianists.

I hope this helps

Peter
