| Can anyone recommend a good midi interface for an imac. At the moment I have a midiman 2x2 midisport but am having loads of problems with it including glitches, randomly held notes and latancy problems. This happens with pretty much every software package and different keyboards so I think it's an interface problem. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Barry | |

| This is weird. I have an old P100 laptop with 16megs of ram that I use for midi with my Yamaha, and it works up to 64 notes polyphony. MIDI is serial data and needs a specific baud rate to function properly. Maybe this is a driver issue, translating the baud rate of the midi interface to the computer software wrong? I don't know. I've had a lot of success with USB type midi interfaces like this one: http://www.edirol.com/products/info/um1.html I also use regular midi-gameport cables, that connects to the gameport, I don't know if this works on mac's I'm a PC dude :) I don't know what kind of keyboard you have, a lot of the newer ones have inbuilt midi interfaces, my Yamaha has a regular midi port, usb port and serial ports for both PC and Mac. All work great. Doc-Z | |
