| LearnJazzPiano.com archives: "Log In" not remembered problem | |
| Jazz+ -- 09/03/2004, 12:49:52 -- #6900 | |
| Many times I have written very lengthy and thoughtful posts for this forum only to have them instantly vanish because when I click "Post Message" because I have once again forgotten to "Log In" which seems to be required every visit. Last night I spent thirty minutes writting a very fine post only to see every word go poof. Why can't this forum remember a Log In? I have given up posting anything lengthy here, even as I write this I feel nervous that it will disapear. | |

| Whenever I write something long I copy and paste it to note pad before I post message in case this happens. That way if it happens you can re log in and copy and paste it. If you have not done that you can often still save the the post by using the "back" button ... again use copy and paste. I always copy my posts before hiting post message so i have them in ram in case I am not loged in. I am doing it now before I post this. | |

| Well, when you come to the site, log in before you do anything. Actually, no one has mentioned this to me until now. The text box for messages should not even be visible if you have not logged in, so you have discovered a bug that I'll fix shortly. What SHOULD happen is a message displayed at the bottom of the forums that says "you need to log in to post" or something of that nature. Sorry for the inconvenience- I will fix it. | |

| Thanks for making that fool proof change, Scott. More often than not the Back button took me back to an empty "Reply" window without my text. | |

| Mike's advice is sound, always copy long posts from another application. I kind of got into the habit on the old forums as your login would 'time out' if you were writing a long post. | |
