You guys,
even heard of it ?

Mikemcf31 -- 11/04/2004, 09:15:01 -- #8616
Yes! I've heard of it.  It's a classic written by John Fogerty (CCR).  I've seen it covered many times by Bruce Springsteen and the E Street band in concert.  I dont have the transcription though...

Thanks,
The original is actually by a band called Status Quo.
I think Frank Rossie wrote it.

Good heavens - I'm the same as zands - I would have sworn that the Quo wrote that tune - especially after a pint or two -
just checked www.allmusic.com though, and Mikemcf31 is dead right.
PS Point of Trivia, if aging memory cells serve - this is the song that opened the UK Live Aid

Gordon, I believe you are right.. that song opened Live Aid.  I recall the Boomtown Rats followed Status Quo and did, among other things, I Don't Like Mondays- another great song.
I remember I bought Live at Knebworth just for Rockin All Over  the World.

Re the piano intro - if I recall right, it's a variation on the boogie woogie opening - I played it in C - the piano part started on a straight Eb, then goes down to the D, then to the Db before landing on C. I think those are straight triads with an octave on top. It then goes to a standard turnaround G7 before beginning the song. It's  pretty much straight boogie from there on. -

Brilliant,
thanks very much indeed Francis !
