LearnJazzPiano.com archives: Gospel Piano Player, looking for advanced jazz chords

Hello. I am a gospel piano player. When I play, people are like you have a nice jazzy sound. Well, 1st off, I have short fingers. So I'm wondering do I need to add more to my left hand to get that complete jazz feel? I also want to learn more jazz chords to add to my gospel vocabulary. Where do I start? How long will it take for me to catch on? O yeah, I play in every key, so it shouldn't be to tricky should it? ~cakinbro

Well, click on the "jazz lessons" link to the left and visit the rooms. Each room in the lessons hall has a "lesson intro" that talks about jazz chords and things like that.

I play mainly gospel music also and I play in all the keys....I want to jazz up my style also, I started learning from the Jazz piano book by Mark Levine and I notice that some of the chords are real nice, check out the book if you get a chance.
