Anybody know who wrote the famous I vii IV V duet that everybody and their next door neighbor plays?  I checked BMI and there are 145 songs with that title - oy..

I'm having a recital Sunday and a mother-son duo wants to play that tune...I need the writer for the program...I may just put "Traditional" :)

thanks

I seem to remember looking through one of my grandmother's old piano books a while back and finding that tune, and I'm pretty sure it's a Hoagy Carmichael original.

Oh... it was originally concieved, composed and performed as
a I VI II V  not a I VI IV V.  It became popular to perfom it as
a I VI IV V when children started started doing it that way as
duets.

I think Hoagy Carmichael is often overlooked when we talk about great tune-smith's such as Gershwin, Porter, Berlin etc

Gerogia on my mind, Stardust, The Nearness of You...I think these are some of the greatest melodies ever composed and are  beautiful to play and FEEL!!
