| I'm listening to the new Geri Allen which is nice and an old Michel Camilo cd "thru my eyes" which is all standards and really good. Also have the new Gonzalo Rubalcaba and am pretty disappointed with it..I have all of his cds and I think this one is sub par.. Any recommendations on new stuff? | |

| All the years of pressure to "Learn the repetoire" ... Transcribe, transcribe, transcribe.... I've got books of my own compositions I have hardly played. Boxes of cassettes of my own playing with countless bands and jams that I have never listened too. Personally I am taking a time out to listen to myself. Trying to tweak my and perfect my own musicality by listening to and transcribing my own playing. | |

| I listen to grass roots grooves...with time that kicks you in the butt...I saw Kevin Spacey sing with an ass-kicking swinging band on the Today Show the other day - really got me going... I listend to an old Kenny Loggins album the other day with John Robinson, Freddie Washinton, Richard Tee, etc...talk about a pocket! simple chords - right where they should be...I perked right up:) | |
