Jazz Lessons
Welcome to the world of jazz. Before you get started you need to think about a few things and be prepared in a few ways.
  • You should be able to play all of the major scales
  • You should have a rudimentary understanding of harmony
  • You should be able to read music in both clefs
  • You should be able to play from sheet music if necessary
  • You should also have a minimum of six hours per week to practice. We all know that it doesn't come overnight.
  • Patience is necessary. Jazz is not easy, but it's worth the work.

The lessons you will find here are built on years of practical on-the-job experience. I can't supply you with the same kind of information you will get from an educational institution, I can't tell you what Monk's favorite joke was, and I never did understand French 6ths.

What I do know is how to play professionally with anyone who needs a piano player. I also know how to have a lot of fun doing it.

So join the club, check it out, and be prepared for a new world.
