Scot Ranney- jazz pianist, composer, computer geek, ski bum.

Looking for a pianist? Someone to play jazz piano for you in Seattle or somewhere else in the Pacific Northwest?

Scot plays piano all around the Northwest for parties, weddings, concerts, and other events. Although Scot lives in Bellingham, he plays piano reguarly in Seattle, Everett, Vancouver B.C., Portland, Bothell, and all areas in between.

If you are looking for something more lively than just a solo piano player (which, by the way, can be extremely lively when Scot is playing!), Scot's trio is perfect for larger events and it's easy to add a horn player or two to give it even more punch.

Not only does Scot run an exciting trio, but when the situation calls for it, Scot can bring in a Hammond B3 organ trio featuring Nicholas Hoffman on the guitar. Nicholas has several highly acclaimed recordings, and also owns and hauls the Hammond B3 Organ around! The B3 trio is a real treat and can be as mellow or funky as you want.

Scot has also been involved in educational events such as jazz camps and workshops, and several times a year hosts a jazz piano master class in Bellingham or elsewhere in the country for aspiring jazz pianists.

Scot started playing jazz piano professionally in 1988 after more than a decade of classical music. In the early and mid 1990's Scot lived in Asia and he performed as a jazz pianist in a jazz/blues band on a nightly basis for a few years in Seoul, South Korea. After that, he played piano in some of the finest clubs that places such as Hong Kong, South Korea, and Japan had to offer.

After over 2000 nights on stage in Asia, Scot spent a couple of years playing piano in Seattle and then moved to Aspen, Colorado. Soon after rolling into Aspen on a cold October night, Scot started playing piano at the prestigious Ritz-Carlton Hotel as the new house pianist seven nights a week. And yes, he did ski almost every day for two winters.

Two years later, Scot moved back to Seattle and then found his way to Bellingham.

Scot plays reguarly in public every Tuesday night at Bellingham's local brew pub, Boundary Bay Brewery, where he has been running jazz jam session for over four years. It's become a popular event for musicians from across the region and is a great place to hear Scot's playing and meet him in person.

Use the form above to inquire about booking Scot as your piano player, band leader, or to sit in when your own pianist/keyboardist can't make it. Scot is completely portable as well and can play music anywhere there is electricity.
