does anybody know what joey calderazzo is up to these days besides playing with branford marsalis? he hasn't done an album since 2000 and i for one would love to hear more of his trio playing!

he's been on the road and recording with michael brecker. i saw him at jazz alley in seattle recently and it was pretty amazing.  my bro and i actually sat next to the stage- brecker within touching distance on my right, calderazzo within touching distance on my left. it was nice to hear the accoustic sound instead of the pa system.

so he's recording with brecker again! can't wait 'til that album comes out. i haven't heard many piano players with joey's energy and rhythmic drive. is jeff "tain" watts playing with them also?
tain has got his own group and is out touring.  i also saw calderazzo with brecker (at jazz at the bistro here in st. louis) and two weeks later saw jeff watts with eric reevis on bass.  both of those shows were awesome.
i'm totally addicted to j. caldorazzo, lately i have been listening to a burned trio album of his with jeff "tain" watts and it is amazing.  how many trio albums does he have?

i think he has a more recent recording out.make sure you check out"transcriptions" here, some great stuff by him is represented.jc is one of the busiest young players, freelances a lot in europe/nyc,try a websearch using his name for info.......he's a sideman on a lot of obscure recordings(that should be well-known!!)....here's one to take to a desert island(after you hear it you'll want to create the equivalent of one in your crib where you'll study his playing on  it 24-7)-"standard gonz".....
too bad a lot of joey's albums are out-of-print. his playing on rick margitza's "this is new" is also awesome. not to mention his first two albums as a leader "in the door" and "to know one".
you can find all sorts of out of print recordings on ebay, by the way.

there's even one of monty alexander, "live at montreaux" that is going to be ending in a few hours (highly recommended!)

you might try branford marsalis' "romare bearden". jc does some slick rhythmic shit on that.
