Montuno and guaje
son montuno is a cuban rhythm, a kind of salsa, and people call it also montuno or cuban son.
in any latin piece, the impro section is called montuno, so as in jazz impro section is called "chorus".
when an orchestra is playing a mambo, a section played by pianist in a savage style, touching keys as percussions and drums, forgetting chords and harmony, is called montuno, from the word "monte" (jungle).
some people call montuno the guaje of piano.
so montuno is a word with some meanings: it may be a synonym of guaje, or of impro in a latin piece, or a rhythmic pattern equivalent to son montuno, or a savage piano section in a mambo.
tumbao is the figure of bass following conga's beats. congas are called also tumbas, and so tumbao is playing bass as tumbas.
many people call tumbao also the guaje of piano.

Volume 3 contains 12 jazz piano exercises and explorations by the acclaimed jazz piano educator, pianist, author, and recording artist Tim Richards.
Tim wrote the well known "Exploring Jazz Piano" and "Improvising Blues Piano" books and has several others to his name.
Volume 4 is by Jeff Brent, a jazz pianist, composer, teacher, and author of "Modalogy" and other acclaimed jazz theory and education books. In this book Jeff shares detailed analysis of transcriptions of live performances. He covers everything from the shape of the songs to the tricks and licks he uses in improvised lines to the ideas behind his lush chord voicings.
