Some advice please chaps!
the only problem is - it's hard! i seem to be using a couple of left hand devices such as 2 and 4 feel walking basslines and stride patterns. whilst i can do it fine when playing the melody, i find it difficult to maintain a 4 feel walking bass at tempo during a solo (around 250bpm). i then find if i switch to a 2 feel or stride then the music seems to lose its momentum. walking tenths in a two feel may help but alas, my hands aren't big enough to do tenths.
does anyone have any suggestions of how to keep the momentum of a walking bass line when soloing. i know i could either play the head a different way, play the whole thing slower or just keep practicing until i can play the lh at that tempo but are there any other things i should consider?
any advice would be welcome.

Volume 2 has 14 jazz piano exercises and tricks of the trade, and quite a bit of it is Calypso jazz piano related material, including some Monty Alexander and Michel Camilo style grooves. Jazz piano education is through the ears, but books like this can help.
Volume 3 contains 12 jazz piano exercises and explorations by the acclaimed jazz piano educator, pianist, author, and recording artist Tim Richards.
Tim wrote the well known "Exploring Jazz Piano" and "Improvising Blues Piano" books and has several others to his name.
Volume 4 is by Jeff Brent, a jazz pianist, composer, teacher, and author of "Modalogy" and other acclaimed jazz theory and education books. In this book Jeff shares detailed analysis of transcriptions of live performances. He covers everything from the shape of the songs to the tricks and licks he uses in improvised lines to the ideas behind his lush chord voicings.
