there is a cd or tape that you can purchase (although i do not know where) that has all the omni book recordings (in edited form to include
just what is transcribed in the omnibook).  i got a copy from a teacher
i was studying with.
go to amazon.com and check out:

1945-53 from dizzy to miles
1945-1953
masterworks: 1946-1947

i have these three cd:s myself. they are cheap and contain almost all of the recordings used for the omnibook.
do you know ehrer to buy that cd mike talked about? could you send me the files by e-mail mike?
i have never been able to successfully email cd files.
omnibook can still be purchased? i thought it was discontinued years ago? i wouldn't mind having a copy myself.
you can buy it at amazon.com...
yes, i see in music stores all the time.  i believe it is printed by aebersold.
where can we find that compilation cd of the omnibook solos?
in the introduction to the book, jamey aebersold says that the material on the book is "contained in approximately eight records (some are two record sets) and most are still available."  i have no idea when that was written, though.

"bird's best bop on verve" is a good place to start.  it only has 16 tracks, but i think 10 or 11 are in the book.
or, once again, the cdīs i recommended:

from dizzy to miles: 11 tracks in the book
masterworks 1946-1947: 5 tracks
1945-1953: 15 tracks
--------------------------------------------
total: 31 tracks

since the total price for these is about $30 i think itīs a good deal.
the old recordings are pretty easy to find- click on the ebay symbol at hte bottom of the left menu and do a search if all else fails.  they are out there, and they are a great resource when learning the omnibook tunes (and solos!)  learning those tunes and being able to play them just like bird will turn you into a monster be-bopper.  the omnibook could be called the bible for be-boppers as every little bit of the language and rules of the genre are in there.
If I'm not back in 24 hours, call the president.

Scot is available for skype jazz piano lessons (and google hangouts, phone call, etc...)
Use the contact link at the top of the page.
i was asking about the compilation cd with just the solos in the same order as the transcribed solos in the book. i wasn't asking about the original albums that are now available on cd.
jazz+

that recording would have to be an illegally produced cd.  i would try searching e-bay.
why donīt you want to have the complete recordings? you donīt like bebop or what? :-)
