can anyone recommend a good book with simple jazz piano arrangements? i want to give sight-reading assignments to my students and itīs hard finding something thatīs easy enough. of course i can write out easy arrangements of my own, but that would take more time (a luxury i do not often have). what do you guys suggest?

hi savage:
the great contribution of jazz to learning music is creativity in performance.  if somebody needs a piano arrangement of a jazz standard... he/she is playing it as a current classical piece...
try to develop creativity in your students playing jazz lead sheets with melody and chords... each tune in different styles.

thanks albetan, iīve studied your file and itīs great stuff (like most of your files).

however, in this case i want my students to improve their sight-reading skills in both treble and bass clef. the reason i want to work with jazz arrangements is because itīs more fun for them than reading easy classical music, arrangements of pop tunes etc. that way i can also point out certain harmonic aspects of the arrangements.
i reccommend oscar peterson's "jazz for the young pianist".

it contains simple yet extremely useful concepts. both clefs are used throughout. good for reading and for learning.
