it's cool indeed! some places aren't fully zoomable though.
btw. only 2 americans on ljp? i thought jazz originated there;)
congrats, gordon for this excellent idea.
to all folks: please write your musical activity as student, pro musician, pianist, teacher, arranger, hobbyst....
i don't see in that ljp map our boss scot.... the great father of this jazz brotherhood ljp.
bonzo, it's a holiday here and people are busy.  maybe that's why you don't see too many u.s. people on the map yet.
the map is a great idea -- i hope everyone gets on it!
really good idea !
question for the admin: are there any suggested links in the "admin" area to link to this place?

scot,
i'm not the admin, but i think you can find what you are looking for at https://www.frappr.com/learnjazzpiano and then "widgets" (top right of the page), they give you the code you're looking for to add a link to this map from your site :

that's the 3 following html tags :

<a href="https://www.frappr.com/learnjazzpiano"><img src="https://www.frappr.com/i/frapper_sticker.gif" border="0" alt="check out our frappr!" title="check out our frappr!"></a>

i don't know if you are allowed to modify the image source tag to replace by your own .gif, but you probably can change alt and title comments by your own text at least.

hope this  helps.
it seems scot's question wasn't asked to me, sorry about that, gordon, the last time i did that, it was at school 30 years ago :-)))

long life to your idea !!
no problem monsieur :)
thank you sir ;-)) you don't forget about "the entente cordiale"  between our 2 countries ;-))))

nice to see your face, scott!!!
:)

this is a very funny site.
by kidding with google adds and working in hybrid map or in satellite map i can see my city, bogota, from the space... zooming with a bit of patience...
in usa and europe you may see all cities, roads... and many points of interest in map...
brownse learnjazzpiano map and enjoy it.
i like to see all ljp friends there...
these zoomed pictures are fantastic !!! albetan, check out the eiffel tower in paris and its shadow falling down in the seine river !! waooouh !!
and zooming over his pin.
i did the same albetan.  but my pin shouldn't be there, i leave in east suburbs and now it's right in the middle of the city
seb, you can manually move your pin to your exact location.  that's what i did.
how do you do that cynbad, i tried but failed :(
i did it in the beginning, i think i had to zoom in on my location, but i don't remember exactly.  i'll try to get there again and let you know...
i found it.  first, you must be logged in to your frapper account.
you should be at "seb's frappr".  then click on my profile.  under "basic profile", you will see "update location" and "click on map below to refine marker position".  on the little map below, you can scroll or zoom to your actual location and then click to put your marker there.  then save the marker location.
my pin is also in the wrong site of town. i think only in the us u can pinpoint your exact location. i couldn't drag the pin neither. so i just discovered the satelite and hybrid map too, some parts u can really zoom in close, cool!!
i hope more people will join in on the map. how do u add a picture when u already have a pin on the map?
you can do all sorts of editing if you click on yoru "profile" link (something like that) it lets you put more pics and do other things like move the pin around.

jlopez in spain also has a frappr account and a little house next to his name.
i think you must create an account in order to change your profile and position.  i don't know if this is available everywhere.
to add a picture, you would also log in to your account and go to my profile.
ok, it's real easy to update your location.  i just put the pin in my back yard :)

yep, just follow my instructions.
however, it looks like some of these people don't have an account, or a profile, or something.
i don't think you need an account to add a picture.  if you don't see where to do it click on add me and assuming you've allowed cookies it will take you to where you can do both the picture or a shoutout.
man, my pin showed up about 3 blocks from my house!
if you follow cynbad's instructions you can pin your pin right upon your home's roof. just create an account and go to your profile.
i changed it too (my pin was previously into the mediterrean sea !!).
i had to create an account in order to do that (and did as cynbad wrote in post #21985)
keep it comin´

i see that a lot of people have posted their picture !!! that´s awesome - everyone should take the time and put a picture so we all see each others ugly face :)
ciao.
hey, i noticed my old buddy whack was on there, anyone else heard from him.

so !! ljp is a 38 members community ?? i can't believe that !

either people are shy to register, or some of you have got dozens of accounts on ljp ;-)))

other thing, for those who enjoyed the satellite views from frapp.com, i wonder if you know those better pictures proposed with google earth ?

you have to download a little program (safe) from
    https://earth.google.com
you need xp at least, and the .exe is a 11 meg file. then you install it, and you get those wonderful pictures, when zooming in, you really get a chance to check if you were home when the satellite passed by ;-)))
you don't have to register to be on the map.  you can load your picture (please!) and the shoutout without an account.

and google earth is way cool!  if you watch cnn at all you'll see it a lot now.
but you can't reposition your pin without an account.
i'll load a picture when i have time to look for one!
yeah!! don´t be lazy, take 2 minutes and post your picture...
cynbad, that was you i saw wandering around centrum.  next time i'll say hello.
lol, scott, i don't know how you could tell from that picture!
maybe the hair and the hat?
next time, i think i will recognize you, too.  "tall" was just not enough info!
i'm going to try and save up and actually attend the centrum workshop next year.  you should too!
exactly, the hat and hair.  i darn near approached you but didn't want to be arrested if i was wrong.  and in fact, while i think i was still the tallest there, there were a number of tall, grey-haired guys there.  so it goes.  i will be there next year but i just don't think i'll have the confidence (or competence) to play.  we'll see -- i could be (would love to be) wrong.
say, does anyone know how i can delete an entry from the map?  i've got my picture with no account and, now, an account (off the coast of africa right now).  i'd like to combine the two somehow.  tks.
well, i've got a picture by my pin, but no picture in the group pictures section for ljp.  i don't know how to fix that either.
i guess we're the beta testers.

scott, if you can do what you need to do on the audition tape, you can certainly participate with no problem.  from reading your blog, you practice a lot more than i do.  i am embarrassed at my laziness!
