are the yamaha disklavier grand pianos worth purchasing ? i have been playing one recently and love it's sound - is the quality of these pianos respected by the cognoscenti ? or is it perhaps somehow compromised by it's other abilities (recording midi information and mechanicaly playing back).

i would appreciate a quick answer, as i have calculated that i may be able to start buying my own grand piano in only 25 years time.

we've had one at my house for 9 years.  most people say it's the nicest piano they've ever played.  with the exception of some steinways, i would agree.
it'd be so great to record yourself when you're really on top of it, & then listen to yourself later on, when you've forgotten; or you can make your own dinner music. darn, i sure wish i had one.
my sister owns one, and i really enjoyed it over the holidays.  great for the whole family.  i say go for it if you can.
boo-hoo, i wonder if i'll ever even have a grand again; i sure do miss the bass on it, like ending a song with a "low bomb", or playing "klingon music" with both hands down in the low register!
there is a cool feature on the new "markiv" disklaviers that allows you to record video (dv only, not analog) of you playing the piano and have the video playback sync to the disklavier playing.
