over in the room "the best midis on ljp", ryan cullen does an excellent job on "all blues".

(best played through the vanbasco midi player - free at https://www.vanbasco.com - gotta love that virtual piano keyboard!
that's a good question ayolt.
you can use mixolydians on the whole tune up until the d7#9, eb7#9, d7b13 sequence, i don't really think that they work there. and you can use the g blues too. i don't think miles used the blues scale on this tune, from what i remember he pretty much stuck with the mixos and stayed away from the blue notes. and he used altered scale tones on that d7-eb7-d7 sequence(all those chords are altered btw).
yeah, check out ryan cullen's version of it, you can probably pick up alot of info from that.

tnx!

its a great tune to jam on! i love this modal style. it seems you can just run your 'so what' voicings and 4th voicings all over the keyboard! it all sound great!
oh yeah, while i'm into the model thing...

on the tunes milestones, should i play melodic minor over  th gmin chord? and perfect minor over the amin chord?

thnx!
i have a brad mehldau recording somewhere where he plays
dorian b9 over the bridge. sounds nice:

d7 - f gb ab bb c d eb  or  f ab bb c d (fminor pentatonic)
eb7- gb g a b db eb e   or gb a b db eb (gbminor pentatonic)
the eddie harris album which includes a number of contrafacts to miles davis tunes has a nice version of "all blues" (with a different head).  the pianist, janice scroggins, takes a really nice solos, in g with different tensions on the eb7/d7 turnaround.  good feel on that record, worth picking up.
thejaffer: which record from brad mehldau are you talking about? i am not aware of brad mehladu having recorded "all blues"

tnx
haha, it's a bootleg recording, in duo with kenny barron. it's pretty special.
there's a ray bryant trio album that contains a great version of all blues, with grady tate (drums) and sam jones on bass. i have it on cassette but have never managed to find out the album title (does anyone know?). it's probably a long-deleted lp. most of the tracks are blues (c-jam, billie's bounce, jumpin' with symphony sid, blues changes, etc).

i like pnowanabes pentatonic concept. i often use these particular scales myself over altered chords in place of melodic minors, and find they can give a more interesting result than using the whole scale. they are easy to construct by flatting the 3rd of a major pentatonic. so for d7alt, think eb major pent (1/2 step up), but play f# instead of g. that's why they are often referred to as "flat 3" pentatonics.

actually the scale given above can also work over both chords,  without necessarily moving it up a 1/2 step to fit eb7. the g blues scale is also useful if used the same way - making sure you don't stress the d over eb7 of course...

imo these "horizontal" approaches often give better results than always allocating separate scales for every single chord...
this would be it (https://www.emusic.com/album/10601/10601651.html) -- same name as the tune - all blues.
