to my surprise i just got a call from this cover pop band that has a great long standing steady gig. i'm going to do a trial gig with them soon. the only problem is that they don't have a book and i  don't know their tunes... they gave me a cd of 150 tunes that they do. i also found some good midi files of the tunes. i been able to pick up most of the stuff by ear but i thought it would be nice to have some charts too.

can anyone recomend some software that is easy to use and that transribes parts from midi files?

thanks!

hey man, try vanbesco player, its the best!!! it will atually show you the exact notes being played on the keyboard.
sibelius will open midi files and spit the notes onto staff paper.  the problem is, depending how the midi author created the file, notes may or may not end up how you'd like them to be seen. for example, all notes could end up on one staff, phrases might not start on the beats they are supposed to, etc.  when those things happen, you're probably better off starting from scratch.
jazzvirtuoso- i just tried the vanbesco- that's really cool! that will be a big help to get ready for this gig. i'll look into the sibelius too because it would be nice to have some notated parts as well.  anyother sugestions would be appreciated.
check out this program. i've used it with good results. it has a good split score function.

mo jazz, thanks man- this works great! the only thing i couldn't figure out was how to transpose. can it do that too?
i use an older version that transposes. musician should transpose as well. clonk on the link to see a features comparison between musician and composer
