i hate to introduce you to another site, but i feel i must.  miles black has a sight called "jazz piano masters class" to be brought up with google.  in brief instructional doses, miles teaches you: what he refers to as "shells" which are chords that comprise the base in lh with 3rd 7th in the rh; from there how to build all the alt chords, then walking base, block chords, block drop 2, improvising, riffs, breaks, endings, turn-arounds, fills, grace notes, use of scales in improvising - major, minor, whole tone, ii, v, i, circle of 5ths, chromatic harmony, everything; use of the modes, diminished, etc.  for each skill, he discusses and then demonstrates what he means.  plus practice, practice, practice.  i'm classically trained, and in a month i've learned how to use fake books for at least 200 songs.  check it out.............it's downloadable for free.  i bought his manual, and the source store is in victoria.
