hi folks,

i just got my webcam and skype working.  i'm somewhat serious about taking a few online students, so if you're at all interested, let me know. i need someone to test the technology on as well, which means someone gets a free lesson or two from helping me during testing.

oh yeah, there's also learnjazzpiano.com tv.  yes, crazy isn't it?  you can find it at:

https://www.ustream.tv/channel/learnjazzpiano.com

basically, i'm going to put my webcam and laptop near the piano when i'm practicing and working stuff out.  nothing special, just let folks know what's going on when i'm at the piano.  the only thing holding me back is that i need to make a longer network cable so i can plug in next to the piano.

fun stuff!

scot,

i think you're going to enjoy this a lot. i've started lessons with dave here a few weeks ago and it's really cool.

long network cable? why not wireless?

i'll check out your "tv" channel. what time do you usually play?

you probably won't have problems finding people for a free lesson, but in case you do, let me know, i'm happy to help.
hi scot,

i would love to help you test the setup... especially if it means a free lesson from a pro :-)

i am on a new mac at this end, with webcam built in. my mac is on a table next to my piano so should work fine.

to be honest i probably won't be a regular student, as i do a lot of self-teaching and i'm also a bit mean, but if it works well i might ask for a lesson now and then.

by the way, i'm in england.
what level of student are you looking for?  i'm mostly "self-taught" from this website, as well as some going through books like levine and tim richards (i found levine was a little bit beyond me, but that was a couple of years ago...i'm going through richard's blues book now and getting a lot out of that), so i'm not really sure how i'd characterize my skill level, probably not beginner, although i'm not sure i'm quite "intermediate" yet.
i'm messing around on the piano right now on the web cam address above :)
